Chechen law enforcers hold at least three Yangulbaevs' relatives

Apart from Zarema Musaeva, the mother of Yangulbaev brothers, who was abducted in Nizhny Novgorod and brought to Chechnya by law enforcers, two their other relatives have not been released yet.

On January 22, the head of Chechnya accused the Yangulbaevs of supporting terrorism and beating up a Chechen law enforcer in Turkey. Amid received threats, Saidi Yangulbaev, a retired federal judge, and his daughter left Russia. Later, Kadyrov invited Yangulbaevs to come to Chechnya to fetch their mother.

On January 24, Abubakar Yangulbaev, a lawyer of the "Committee against Torture" (CaT)*, said that another one of their relatives may have been kidnapped in Chechnya.

"Of all my relatives who were kidnapped, Said-Emin and Said-Akhmed Yangulbaev are not back at large yet. Perhaps they've also taken Shahid Yangulbaev – he is out of contact now," Abubakar has added.

Based on open sources, the "Caucasian Knot" has compiled a list of 60 kidnapped relatives of Chechen authorities' opponents. As of January 18, a total of 11 of them had been still held by law enforcers.
