Social network users criticize appeal of Malizaev blogger's brother to repentance

After a brother of Minkail Malizaev, living in Europe, had called on the blogger and other critics of the Chechen authorities to repent, Instagram users noted that appealing to a relative in public was an inappropriate gesture. They suggested that the brother appealed to Minkail Malizaev under pressure.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 9, a video appeal from the brother of Minkail Malizaev, living in Europe and criticizing the authorities of Chechnya, was posted on Chechen Instagram public accounts. In his appeal, the brother of the blogger apologized for his relative.

In the evening on July 21, a new appeal voiced by Anzor Malizaev, a brother of Minkail Malizaev, was posted on the Instagram public account "About Chechnya and Beyond". "The brother of Minkail Malizaev has recorded a new video appeal not only to his brother, but also to all the pseudo-patriots who use the Internet to pour all sorts of dirt and nonsense at the Chechen Republic. He considers them puppets in the hands of Western secret services and calls on those would-be bloggers to change their minds while there is time for that," claims the annotation to the appeal voiced by Anzor Malizaev.

In their comments posted on social networks, users considered it inappropriate to contact a brother using a public account on the Internet.

"Do those two have no phone numbers of each other? Why don't you solve your family problems in person?" wrote, in particular, user ali_alleroevskiy, as translated from the Chechen language by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. "You were forced to do it," suggested user mazaev.shamil while addressing the brother Minkail of Malizaev.
