ICRF finds motive for Ibragim Eldjarkiev's assassination

The motive for the assassination of Ibragim Eldjarkiev, the chief of the Ingush Centre for Combating Extremism (CCE, also known as Centre "E"), was his professional activities. No versions of religious motives and revenge are confirmed, reports Igor Krasnov, Deputy Chairman of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that 12 suspects were arrested in the case on the assassination of Ibragim Eldjarkiev, the chief of the Ingush Centre "E". Entrepreneur Khasan Polonkoev was mentioned by the ICRF as the leader of the grouping involved in the assassination. In total, 30 people are suspected of involvement in the killing.

Ibragim Eldjarkiev was shot dead in Moscow on November 2. His brother Akhmed Eldjarkiev, a doctor at a Moscow hospital, also fell victim to the attack. According to sources, the murder of Ibragim Eldjarkiev could be a result of blood feud amid his conflict with members of the Batal-Khadji community, one of which leaders, Ibragim Belkharoev, was killed in 2018.

The motive for the assassination of Ibragim Eldjarkiev, the chief of the Centre for Combating Extremism of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Ingushetia, was his professional activities, reported Igor Krasnov, Deputy Chairman of the ICRF, as quoted by the "Kommersant" today, on January 13.

"So far, we have no reason to say that the officer could be killed out of the motives of revenge or religious grounds," the "Kommersant" quotes Igor Krasnov as saying.

Meanwhile, according to Igor Krasnov, the ICRF found that "Khasan Polonkoev and other persons were involved in the committed crimes." "Acting as part of an organized grouping, they committed an armed attack on the officer in an attempt to prevent him from stopping their criminal activities," Igor Krasnov said.
