Woman, KBR native, complains about law enforcers' threats

Regina Migirova, a resident of Moscow, told activists of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" that armed law enforcers had broken the door to her apartment and threatened her with violence and criminal prosecution. They asked her about her links with some person suspected of financing terrorism, a native of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR).

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Regina Migirova, 30, disappeared in Moscow after law enforcers broke into her apartment.

Law enforcers did not introduce themselves, and Migirova, with her female friend, who happened to be in her apartment, in a panic attempted to jump down from the balcony of the second level. However, in the street they were stopped by a man armed with a submachine gun, who warned them that he would shoot to kill.

The law enforcers asked about Regina's husband, Zhakhongir Mamasaliev, whom she married according to Muslim canons. They asked whether he was a member of religious organizations and transferred any money to anyone. Migirova replied that he had left two weeks ago, and that she and her husband lived a secular life.

They also asked if she knew Alim Begiev, a KBR native, detained on charges of financing terrorism. Migirova answered negatively, the website of the HRC "Memorial" writes.

According to Migirova, during her interrogation, law enforcers did not allow her to contact her relatives and insulted her, in particular, for her taking Islam, and threatened her with imprisonment and even rape. Migirova's female friend was not allowed to get dressed; she remained in her underwear. Throughout the interrogation, the women were at submachine gunpoint.
