Prisoner goes on hunger strike in Armenia

Aram Khachikyan, sentenced to life imprisonment, is seeking a review of his case, the spokesperson of the Armenia's Ministry of Justice (MoJ) has reported.

The prisoner has gone on a hunger strike today, Nona Navikyan, the press secretary of the MoJ's Penitentiary Department, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to her story, Aram Khachikyan was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder committed in 2006 in Yerevan and is seeking a review of the verdict.

So far, the "Caucasian Knot" has no comments from Khachikyan's representatives.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in 2018, seven life-term prisoners in Armenia declared an indefinite hunger strike asking for pardon.
