Vladimir Vasiliev supports demolition of houses in Makhachkala

On June 6, Vladimir Vasiliev, the acting leader of Dagestan, announced that the quality of houses built without permission could lead to disaster and mass deaths of tenants. Meanwhile, tenants of the houses to be demolished appealed to Ramzan Kadyrov for help.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Makhachkala intensified the fight against illegal construction. In February 2018, the acting head of Dagestan, Vladimir Vasiliev, said that all illegally built houses in the city would be demolished. On June 6, about 70 residents of multi-storey houses gathered in the central square of Makhachkala to protest against the decision to demolish their houses.

On June 6, at a meeting with members of the business community and officials from the Dagestani control and supervisory authorities, the acting leader of Dagestan touched upon the topic of unsanctioned construction.

According to him, only in the territory of Makhachkala, about 300 houses were built without permissions. "As for now, courts pronounced decisions to demolish 30 unsettled buildings, and court marshals started their work. The situation is difficult. The quality of construction can lead to a catastrophe and mass deaths of tenants at any moment. Therefore, we need to work honestly and legally," stated Vladimir Vasiliev as quoted in a message dated June 6 and posted on the website of the Dagestani leader.

Tenants of the houses to be demolished appealed to Ramzan Kadyrov for help.

"We visited all public institutions and we filed appeals ... No one paid any attention to us. I want to address Ramzan Kadyrov: 'Please help us!'," said a protester, whose video appeal was published in the group dagestan.official in Instagram.

Earlier, residents of the Nivenskoe village in the Kaliningrad Region have sent an open letter to the leader of Chechnya. They have asked Ramzan Kadyrov to include their village into the Chechen Republic and "restore order."
