"Sasna Tsrer" supporters block GPO building in Yerevan

Today, supporters of the unit "Sasna Tsrer" (Daredevils of Sassoun) have blocked entrances to the building of the General Prosecutor's Office (GPO) of Armenia. They demand the resignation of General Prosecutor Arthur Davtyan. The protesters have claimed that Arthur Davtyan does not want to recognize there are political prisoners in Armenia.

Nikol Pashinyan, new Prime Minister of Armenia, has announced that there should be no political prisoners in Armenia, the activists remind. According to them, the General Prosecutor "fails to face reality" when he claims there are no political prisoners in the country.

"That allows us thinking that [this] public institution [...] even after the people's awakening continues to act illegally and wants to return the Serzh Sargsyan's regime. The General Prosecutor's Office cannot work until the General Prosecutor resigns, since the public institution does not work for the benefit of people," said one of the activists as quoted by the Radio "Azatutyun".
