Two Chechen female residents suspected of links with Syrian militants

The Chechen Prosecutor's Office has stated that investigators failed to thoroughly check the information about the departure of two women from Chechnya to Syria, but the Office has opened criminal cases against them.

The Office asserts that the Investigating Department for Chechnya of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) has made serious violations. Now, the women face up to 15 years in prison.

According to the Prosecutor's Office, both defendants are now in Syria.
