In Astrakhan, two activists detained for distributing leaflets

Today, in Astrakhan, the police have detained two activists who were distributing leaflets with an appeal to participate in the action "Voters' Strike".

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the action "Voters' Strike" was declared by supporters of Navalny, who after the refusal of the Central Election Commission (CEC) to register his candidacy called for boycotting the presidential election scheduled for March 18.

Today, Mikhail Anisenko, Alexei Tyurin, and Andrei Yegorov have gathered in the centre of Astrakhan to hand out for passers-by the leaflets with the advertisement of the action "Voters' Strike". However, two of them were soon detained by policemen.

Mikhail Anisenko, who was not detained by the policemen, said that after the detention of his associates, he held a solo picket in front of the entrance to the reception room of the Russian President.

The activist has explained that he protested against the actions of the police. "When the authorities violate human rights, we can only express our protest through solo pickets," said Mikhail Anisenko.
