Navalny's electoral office in Volgograd fixes 65 detainees at "Voters' Strike"

The activists fined for their participation in the protest action named "Voters' Strike" on January 28 will appeal against their fines at the Volgograd Regional Court, in order to have the right afterwards to appeal to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR), said Alexei Volkov, the coordinator of the local Alexei Navalny's office.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 28, about 300 Navalny's supporters took part in the unsanctioned march in Volgograd in support of the All-Russian "Voters' Strike". Several dozen of them were detained, including Vyacheslav Yaschenko, a "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

One third of those detained in the course of the march in Volgograd on January 28 are minors, Alexei Volkov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"We counted 65 detainees: 40 adults and about 25 minors; the minors were released home with their parents; 18 adults were tried yesterday, others will face their trials later," Mr Volkov said.

"We will help them to appeal against the fines and compensate them. The trial process is not important for us; we need only that our appeals pass through the Regional Court, so that we could file complaints to the ECtHR," Alexei Volkov has explained.
