Five Chechnya natives self-mutilate at MCC

Today, five out of the six natives of Chechnya, accused of hooliganism, have injured themselves at the session of the Moscow City Court (MCC), Ulyana Solopova, the press secretary of the court reports. In this way they have protested against the two-year stay under investigation, an advocate of one of them has suggested.

The session announced a break to provide medical held to the defendants; however, no hospitalization was needed, the "Gazeta.ru" reports.

"The arrest of Umar-Khami Idrisov, Rambek Musrapilov, Shamkhan Abduev, Abdul Satabaev, Shamil Saduev and Asalan Makhmutmerzaev was prolonged until January 18," the "Interfax" quotes Ms Solopova as saying.

The men are accused of participating in an attack on the Moscow "Tanuki" Restaurant in 2015. "They had firearms (a pistol, a crossbow and hunting carbines) and baseball bats, and threatened the victims; one of the victims was punched and kicked; and they shot in the direction of another victim", The "Interfax" goes on quoting her.

According to Shamil Yandarbaev, an advocate of one of the defendants, by self-mutilating, they "tried to make sure they are listened to for the first time in two years," the RBC writes.

Investigators suggest that the men "inflicted bodily injuries on themselves with some metal object."

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Islam Magomadov, a native of Chechnya, died in the colony located in the Krasnoyarsk Territory on October 30. Relatives did not believe in the official version of his suicide, and told that the man died after repeated bullying.
