Two federal judges deprived of their powers in Chechnya

The Qualification Collegium of Judges has stopped the powers of two judges from the Achkhoi-Martan District Court because of illegal decisions pronounced by them.

The powers of two federal judges from the Achkhoi-Martan District Court were terminated ahead of schedule on the initiative of the Prosecutor's Office for Chechnya, since its inspection revealed violations of the Code of Judicial Ethics in the judges' actions.

The Prosecutor's Office for Chechnya has come to the conclusion that the judges failed to adhere to an independent and impartial attitude towards defendants in cases. "Two judges from the Achkhoi-Martan District Court committed gross violations of the law and issued 51 resolutions, including 38 decisions on groundless collection of funds from the federal budget in the amount exceeding 130 million roubles," reports the website of the Russian General Prosecutor's Office.

The biased decisions were also pronounced in cases of administrative supervision and disputes about upbringing of children.

According to the information released by the website of the Achkhoi-Martan District Court, it consists of three federal judges, including Adam Tagaev, Salman Yakubov, and Abdul-Azim Ibragimov.
