Gukovo miners claim pressure from law enforcers

In Gukovo, law enforcers provoke and intimidate members of the initiative group of miners, who demand to cover wage arrears and who plan to hold a march to the regional centre. This was reported by the miners.

Since the spring of 2016, "Kingcoal" miners have been regularly protesting in Gukovo and Rostov-on-Don, demanding repayment of their salary debts and issuance of ration coal.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that miners from the "Kingcoal" Company from Gukovo made a decision to hold a march in Rostov-on-Don to meet the Governor of the Rostov Region.

"Today, a picket of the Gukovo miners has begun with pressure on the members of the initiative group," states the appeal of the initiative group of the miners to the Russian President, the Governor of the Rostov Region, and the media, signed by V.P. Dyakonov, a representative of the Gukovo miners.

According to the appeal, a copy of which is available to the "Caucasian Knot", the law enforcers were shooting on video the participants of the picket without their consent. "The picketers understood it was a provocation to cause a protest," notes the appeal.

Besides, one of the members of the initiative group was summoned to the law enforcement agencies, where "they began to tell him that the planned march would be illegal." The member of the initiative group "refused to sign any documents," states the appeal.

The document also notes that law enforcers "visit the picketers at home and blackmail them with some papers about the fine of 150,000-300,000 roubles."

The facts stated in the appeal were confirmed to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by the members of the initiative group.
