Sochi "Children of War" and communists mark day of Lenin's death

Today, members of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF), supporters of communists, and activists of the public organization "Children of War" have laid flowers at the monument to Lenin in Kurortny   Avenue in Sochi. The action participants drew attention to the social challenges that they face, and complained about their low pensions.

According to the organizers, over 50 persons took part in the action.

Semyon Ilyashenko, a participant of the action, said that "the pensioners, who had built the USSR, are today getting pennies and barely survive on the pension of 7-8 thousand roubles."

"The whole sphere of housing and communal services, built under socialism, has been privatized in Sochi. Nobody repairs the outdated sewer pipes and heating duct. On the contrary, the old pipes, which are 80 years old, like the whole communal system in Sochi, are connected to new commercial skyscrapers, which are sold out by private developers, who fail to pay a penny to the treasury," Mr Ilyashenko said at the action.
