Gvaramiya's defence demands to re-qualify attack case
The case on the attack on the Director General of the "Rustavi-2" TV Company should be investigated under the article of persecution because of one's public activities, said Dmitri Sadzaglishvili, the advocate of Nika Gvaramiya. The attack on Gvaramiya was condemned by the US Ambassador to Georgia.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the attack was committed on January 7 in one of Tbilisi restaurants. The responsibility for the attack was taken by Rati Gachechiladze, a son of the former presidential candidate Levan Gachechiladze. The son was detained.
Mr Sadzaglishvili has justified the need to toughen the crime qualification by the reference to Rati Gachechiladze himself.
At the same time, Mamuka Mdinaradze, the chairman of the "Georgian Dream" parliamentary faction believes that for the time of the inquiry, the court should not use custody.
The course of inquiry is monitored by the United States, said Ian Kelly, the US Ambassador to Georgia.
