Sochi police close case against Donchi-ool pensioners

The actions of Donchi-ool pensioners, charged with illegal felling of trees, contain no components of crime. This was reported by Dmitry Dopua, an investigator of the ROVD (District Interior Division) of the Central District of Sochi.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Donchi-ool spouses were charged with illegal felling of trees. The spouses themselves claimed they were fighting for the preservation of green spaces.

"The investigators were guided by the testimonies of five witnesses for the prosecution. They are neighbours of the Donchi-ool spouses who allegedly saw the spouses dragging felled palm and laurel trees to trash cans. However, after examinations specialists found out that the plants were cut down more than three years ago and not in this February. Therefore, the trees could not be cut down by the Donchi-ool spouses," explained investigator Dmitry Dopua.

The investigator could not answer the question about the responsibility for false testimonies of five witnesses on the basis of which the criminal proceedings had been initiated.

Let us remind you that in October, the petition of the Donchi-ool pensioners against the police arbitrariness was posted on the Internet. By December 28, it was signed by 244 people.
