Trial in case of Murat Borlakov's death postponed until August 18

The Ust-Djeguta District Court has postponed until August 18 the trial in the case of the death of detainee Murat Borlakov at a police station because of illness of advocates. This was reported by advocate Pavel Misharin, who represented the interests of the victims.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 21, the court completed the trial stage and started the pleadings.

On February 3, 2014, Murat Borlakov, a resident of Karachay-Cherkessia, died at the Ust-Djeguta ROVD (District Interior Division) an hour after his detention. According to the testimonies given by people detained together with him, Murat Borlakov was tortured. The charge of abuse of power and causing grievous bodily harm that resulted in the detainee's death is filed against Murat Karaketov, the chief of the criminal investigation department of the Division for Ust-Djeguta of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), Rasul Mamchuev, the chief of the police department, operative officers Askhat Laipanov, Kazbek Batchaev, and Taulan Aibazov, an acting operative officer of the criminal investigation department.
