Group of tourists expelled from frontier zone in Sochi mountains
Border guards have detained a group of tourists in the mountains near the Russian-Abkhaz border. They were expelled outside the frontier zone because of absence of permits, border guards have explained.
The tourist group of 12 Russians was detained by employees of the Frontier Department of the Russian FSB for the Krasnodar Territory in the mountains at the altitude of more than 2000 meters above sea level.
According to the above Department, visiting the facilities located within the five-kilometre strip up to the Russian-Abkhaz border is regulated by the orders "On Limits of Frontier Zone in Krasnodar Territory" and "On Approval Frontier Regime Rules", and a permit is a must for visiting these territories.
Most of the tourists had no such permits; therefore, the whole group was expelled beyond the above zone.
