Ilham Aliev writes off Nardaran residents' debt amounting to 27.73 million US dollars

At the ceremony to celebrate the restoration of the Nardaran infrastructure, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliev has announced writing-off of the debt for electricity accumulated by the population of the village of Nardaran.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 27, 2015, Joint-Stock Company (JSC) "Azerishyg" cut off the power supply to the village of Nardaran and explained its decision by the debt for the electricity accumulated by the villages. The local residents treated that as a provocation.

On November 26, 2015, a special operation was conducted in the village of Nardaran, during which, law enforcers detained 14 people, including Talekh Bagirzade, the leader of the movement "Muslim Unity". The riots broke out in the village, as a result of which seven persons were killed. On December 1, 2015, the law enforcers cordoned off the village of Nardaran, and armoured vehicles entered the village.

On June 21, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliev met residents of Nardaran on the occasion of the ceremony to celebrate the restoration of the village infrastructure.

Highway Mashtaga-Bilgya was reconstructed, and internal roads of the village of Nardaran were renovated and expanded.

Ilham Aliev has confirmed writing-off of the debt for electricity accumulated by the population of Nardaran for ten years in the amount of 42,267,000 manats (27,734,000 US dollars), the "Trend.az" reports.
