Volgograd Region: suspects of involvement in IS left in custody
The detention term of five residents of the Volgograd Region, suspected of involvement in the "Islamic State" (IS), which is banned in Russia by court, and of preparing a terror act, has been extended today until September 5.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported, referring to the FSB, that "five radical Islamists, including a member of the gang 'Pallasov Jamaat', who had planned to commit a terror act in the region, were detained." The detainees were arrested for two months.
"The detention term of all the IS supporters detained in the city of Pallasovka, has been extended until September 5," the "Interfax" quotes Anastasia Karvatyuk, the source from the Tsentralny District Court.
With respect of the detainees, criminal cases are being investigated under the articles of "attempt to organize an illegal armed formation (IAF)" and "promotion of terrorist activities", the TASS reports.
