Four Georgia's citizens detained on border are kept in Tskhinvali SIZO

The cases of the four Georgian citizens, detained on the border with South Ossetia and placed in the Tskhinvali SIZO (pre-trial prison), will be considered only on May 11, as May 9 and 10 are days-off in South Ossetia.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 9, the Russian border guards, who took their service at the South-Ossetian border, detained four citizens of Georgia. The detainees include Yuri Kedikoshvili, a resident of the Gori District of Georgia, engaged in construction works in the village of Zadiantkari; and David Tarzishvili, his customer, who lives in the South-Ossetian part of the village. The border guards also detained the Kedikoshvili’s truck, which was carrying gravel. Two other detainees are Akaki Bolotashvili and Mikhail Gakheladze – residents of the Kaspi District of Georgia.

"All the detainees are in the Tskhinvali SIZO; their transfer to the Georgian party is being negotiated over the hotline,” the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed today at the Observation Mission of the European Union.

Detentions in the area of Zadiantkari are frequent, Saba Zizikashvili, the editor of the website “Qartli.ge”, said in his comment to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. "Last year, in this area, at least 15 arrests were made, because there is active communication among the people, who found themselves on the opposite sides of the dividing line; therefore, they get into the hands of the Tskhinvali authorities," he explained.
