Azerbaijan accuses Armenia of using cluster shells (+video)

The Armenian Armed Forces delivered targeted fire at civilian residences with the use of cluster weapons, said the spokesman of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), calling on the international community to condemn "Armenia's ignoring the ceasefire."

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that today the situation in the Karabakh conflict zone has again worsened after the armistice announced on April 5. The parties to the conflict have reported about shelling of civilians in the frontline villages. According to the Azerbaijani party, one local resident was killed during the shelling, and eight others were wounded. Later it was reported that another Azerbaijani villager died in hospital after the shelling.

"On April 27-28, Armenian armed units were delivering targeted fire on residences of the civilian population, which is a gross violation of the international humanitarian law," says the statement of Khikmet Gadjiev, the official spokesman of the Azerbaijani MFA.

"The use by the Armenian Armed Forces of cluster weapons against civilians is aimed at mass destruction of the civilian population," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent quotes Mr Gadjiev's statement.

Azerbaijan calls on the international community to "resolutely condemn the Armenia's ignoring the ceasefire reached on April 5," the statement further says.
