In Yerevan, "March of Silence" ended with laying flowers
About 3000 people took part in the "March of Silence" in memory of the soldiers and officers killed in Nagorno-Karabakh. The march started from the Shaumyan Avenue in Yerevan.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at night of April 2, the situation in the Karabakh conflict zone was escalated: the parties to the conflict were engaged in hostilities with the use of tanks, multiple launch rocket systems, and aviation. At noon of April 5, the sides declared a truce, with periodic reports of violation of the agreements. On April 8, starting from 3:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m., the parties to the conflict declared ceasefire in the conflict zone to search for bodies of killed soldiers, officers, and civilians.
Armenian churchmen held the funeral liturgy in memory of the dead soldiers and officers at the entrance to the military cemetery, where the heroes of the war in Nagorno-Karabakh were buried.
After the liturgy, the participants of the "March of Silence" laid flowers on the graves of freedom fighters, as well as soldiers and officers who died in times of peace as a result of ceasefire violations.
It is not possible to prevent victims on the border of Nagorno-Karabakh until the Karabakh conflict is resolved, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Vardan Gaplanyan, a researcher of Oriental Studies, one of the organizers of the "March of Silence".
The Karabakh conflict should preferably be resolved in a peaceful way, and "the international community should recognize the independence of Nagorno-Karabakh." This opinion was expressed by teacher Anush Mkhitaryan.
