Armenian political analysts state need for Baku to resume talks with Stepanakert

Azerbaijan has achieved nothing from the escalation of the conflict; and official Baku should agree to talks with the participation of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR), said the Armenian political experts interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot". Until recently, Stepanakert did not participate in negotiations based on Madrid principles.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that at night on April 2, the situation on the in the Karabakh conflict zone sharply escalated.

The statement of the OSCE Minsk Group will allow maintaining the armistice, believes Ruben Megrabyan, a political analyst and an expert of the Centre for Political and International Studies. He has treated the aggravation of the situation as "the 5-day Karabakh war of 2016".

He believes that "Azerbaijan has pursued the offensive goals, while the Armenian party – exclusively defensive ones".

Stepan Safaryan, the head of the Armenian Institute for International Politics and Security, said that the Armenian party should ask the OSCE Minsk Group about the initiator of the violence.

According to Sergey Minasyan, a political scientist and a deputy director of the Institute of the Caucasus, Azerbaijan will not be able to complete its military operations as planned, because they start wars, when they want, but end them, when they can.
