Traders complain about losses after the "anti-Turkish" raids in Khasavyurt
The traders of city marketplaces have refused to hold protest actions against confiscations from them of Turkish vegetables and fruits in Khasavyurt. Actions are senseless, since Turkish goods have been liquidated already; and officials are not going to pay any compensation, the traders said.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 31, 50 traders of local marketplaces went out to a rally in Khasavyurt. Their discontent was caused by raids of policemen, who were confiscating foodstuffs and textiles from Turkey. Then, the protesters stated that policemen had confiscated not only Turkish vegetables and fruits, but also Turkish-made clothes, which were not banned.
On November 28, 2015, President of Russia signed a decree on special economic measures against Turkey, which imposed sanctions on imports of goods from Turkey, namely, poultry meat, vegetables and fruits. Russian entrepreneurs have stated that sanctions will inflict serious losses to small and medium-sized businesses.
Traders of Khasavyurt marketplaces have stated that the ban on the sale of Turkish vegetables and fruits "will lead, in the end, to closure of their businesses."
The controlling bodies shall have the right to confiscate goods from traders if the latter lack the necessary documents from vendors, said the advocate Djamal Aliev.
The sale of Turkish textile is not prohibited, said a source from the Department for Dagestan of the "Rospotrebnadzor" (Russian Federal Agency for Consumer Supervision). According to his story, the ban covers "only on fruits and vegetables imported from Turkey."
In the course of the above raids, policemen examined the pavilions at marketplaces of clothes, which were selling clothes made in Turkey, said the traders.
