Alleged bomber of MIA convoy in Dagestan joined militants in 2011

Nariman Bashirov, detained on suspicion of plotting the bomb attack on the motor convoy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) on the Federal Highway "Kavkaz" in Dagestan, had been wanted in connection with the shelling of policemen in April 2014.

On March 29, two police vehicles with law enforcers sent from Krasnoyarsk for mission were blown up on the section of the federal highway "Kavkaz" in the area of the "Uytash" Airport and the village of Novy Khushet. The responsibility for the bombing was taken by the "Islamic State" (IS), recognized as a terrorist organization and banned in Russia. Dagestani MIA reported that one person was killed and two others were injured as a result of the explosion.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 30, in the city of Dagestanskie Ogni, power agents detained one of the suspected attackers of the convoy. According to the sources of the "LifeNews", the detainee is the 22-year-old Nariman Bashirov.

The respective message of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) notes that Nariman Bashirov is suspected of shelling policemen on April 8, 2014, in a wooded area between the villages of Darvag, Tabasaran District, and Gedzhukh, Derbent District, in which one policeman was killed and two other – wounded.

For five years, Nariman Bashirov was "in the woods", as a member of the armed underground, said a law enforcement source, who is quoted by the RIA "Dagestan".

"So far, in the case of undermining the convoy, Nariman Bashirov is a suspect," said the source, adding that Nariman Bashirov is a brother of Mekhtibek Bashirov, who was killed in a special operation in Dagestanskie Ogni in July 2011, and who, according to power agents, since 2008 had been an active member of the underground, and shortly before his death, headed the so-called "terrorist grouping of the Derbent District".
