In Chechnya, rally on Constitution Day to be attended by one million participants

According to the notification filed by organizers of the rally in honour of the 13th anniversary of the adoption of the Chechen Constitution scheduled for March 23, it is expected that the rally will be attended by more than one million participants. Public employees and students claim being obliged to persuade their relatives and friends to take part in the rally.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 18, residents of Grozny, who took part in the rally on the anniversary of the re-connection of Crimea to Russia, reported that they were also obliged to appear as a rally in honour of the Constitution Day of the Chechen Republic. According to the official information, on March 18, the rally was attended by 10,000 people.

According to an official from the Mayor's Office, the notification for holding the rally in the centre of Grozny in honour the anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of the Chechen Republic was filed by the Council of Trade Unions.

The law enforcement bodies have been transferred to enhanced mode of service, and security will be ensured by "several thousand policemen," reports the Chechen Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

Public employees and students are obliged to attend the rally, residents of Grozny report.

According to a leader of one of the public organizations, for 13 years, no million-people rally was ever held on the occasion of the Constitution Day of Chechnya.

The last time when the authorities reported on million people attending a rally in support of Ramzan Kadyrov, it drew criticism, in part because the rally was held on a working day. Now, the subordinates of the Chechen leader have drawn a lesson from the above error, reports Aslan, a member of a local public organization.
