Chechnya: rally in support of Kadyrov scheduled for March 6

The action in support of the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, with the participation of public employees has been moved from February 28 to March 6, locals report. By this sort of rallies, Kadyrov wants to show Moscow the absence of alternatives for the post Chechnya head, Ruslan Martagov, a political analyst, believes.

The second Ramzan Kadyrov's term at the post of the Chechen leader expires on April 5. In February, he repeatedly announced that he had no desire to continue leading the republic, and the Ramzan Kadyrov's subordinates responded by calls to stay their "padishah", made on behalf of the Muslims and the Chechen people.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 3 it became known that the above Chechen public employees received an instruction to come to the rally in support of Kadyrov.

Initially, they planned to hold it on February 28, a female civil servant from the Nadterechny District told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"Then, they called from Grozny and said that the rally had been cancelled; we thought that it was cancelled whatsoever, but it turned out that the event was moved to March 6," she said.

Such rallies, held quite often in Chechnya in recent time, are nothing but the informational pressure on the Kremlin, said Ruslan Martagov, a political scientist and a former consultant (in 2005-2008) of the "Anti-Terror" Fund.

"By holding these rallies, Kadyrov wants to demonstrate to the federal centre that there is no alternative to Kadyrov in Chechnya; he does it only because he now feels his vulnerability; therefore, these rallies, same as stuffing the Internet with statements and messages should show that Kadyrov enjoys great people's love in Chechnya," Martagov told the "Caucasian Knot".
