Prosecutor demands 23 years in prison for Savchenko

The Prosecutor's Office finds the guilt of the Ukrainian pilots Nadezhda Savchenko of involvement in the murder of two VGTRK (All-Russian TV and Radio Company) employees near Lugansk and illegal border crossing proved. The state prosecutor has demanded 23 years of imprisonment for her.

Savchenko's case is heard at the Donetsk City Court of the Rostov Region of Russia since September 22, 2015. The investigators believe that she corrected the artillery fire, and with the help thereof Ukrainian militaries attacked the settlement of Metallist in Donbas on June 17, 2014, and killed two journalists of the VGTRK (All-Russian TV and Radio Company).

Pavel Filipchuk, a public prosecutor from Moscow, was the first to speak at today's court debates. He declared Savchenko's guilt of involvement in journalists' killing "fully proved." In his turn, another state prosecutor – Vladislav Kuznetsov, – declared Savchenko's guilt of illegal crossing the Ukrainian-Russia state border completely proved too.

As a result, the prosecutors have stated that the defendant should be sentenced to 23 years in a general-security colony and a fine of 100,000 roubles.
