In Dagestan, advocate claims being not allowed to visit his client

In the Buynaksk District, an advocate was allowed to visit detained Magomed Akhmeddibirov only three days later. This was reported by the Public Oversight Commission (POC) for Dagestan.

Magomed Akhmeddibirov, born in 1985, a detained resident of the village of Nizhnee Kazanische, is a Category II Invalid. He is suspected of murdering two elderly villagers, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Svetlana Isaeva, a member of the Dagestani POC.

On March 1, at the request of the advocate and relatives of Magomed Akhmeddibirov, Svetlana Isaeva visited the detainee at the temporary detention facility (IVS) at the Buynaksk ROVD (District Interior Division).

"The IVS fails to provide living conditions for inmates: there are two benches in a cell, and the detainee was sleeping on the floor. He also complained about receiving no food. And the advocate was allowed to visit him only on the third or fourth day," said Svetlana Isaeva.

Khamzat Ilyasov, an advocate by agreement, has told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that he presented to investigators a warrant to defend Magomed Akhmeddibirov. However, he was never invited to attend the investigative activities involving his client.

According to the advocate, he filed complaints to the Prosecutor's Office of Dagestan and to the Investigating Department for Dagestan of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF). In his complaint, he stated that he was not allowed to visit his client and that since joining the case, he had seen him only once. However, till present, no response has been received.
