Person killed in Kizilyurt District of Dagestan identified as Gamzat Saigidov
Gamzat Saigidov, killed in a shootout with power agents on the Kizilyurt-Makhachkala highway, had been on the wanted list, said the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) for the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD). Saigidov was a militants' helper, said the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported referring to power agents that on February 4, policemen tried to stop a car for inspection, but the driver opened fire on them and was killed by return fire. He was pre-identified as Gamzat N., a member of the armed underground, a native of the village of Seldi, Tsumadin District.
According to the ICRF, Gamzat Saigidov was killed in the shootout. Investigators believe that the victim was an accomplice of the members of the "Kizilyurt" militant grouping, the website of the ICRF reported on February 4.
On February 5, the casualty's identity was also confirmed by the MIA of the NCFD, which added that Saigidov had been wanted by power agents on suspicion of involvement in the armed underground.
