Witnesses in Savchenko's case refute main prosecutors' version
Nadezhda Savchenko could not, with her wounded arm, climb the tower and correct from there the fire on Russian journalists, two witnesses for the defence have stated today at the session of the Donetsk City Court. Lyudmila Kozlovskaya, President of the Fund "Open Dialogue", is convinced of Savchenko's innocence.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Savchenko's case is heard at the Donetsk City Court of the Rostov Region of Russia since September 22, 2015. The investigators believe that she corrected the artillery fire, and with the help thereof Ukrainian militaries attacked the settlement of Metallist in Donbas on June 17, 2014, and killed two journalists of the VGTRK (All-Russian TV and Radio Company). Today, the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has demanded to release Savchenko.
The next session will be held on February 1. It is planned that Nadezhda Savchenko will give evidence on the outcomes of the trial.
Lyudmila Kozlovskaya is convinced of Savchenko's innocence. "Her innocence is confirmed by all the facts, many times presented by the defence and described in our reports," she said.
"The main proof of Savchenko's innocence is the data from the billing of her phone, received by Russian advocates from the Ukrainian Security Service (known as SBU). This information indicates that at the moment of death of Russian journalists, Savchenko had been for several hours in central Lugansk, where she was taken immediately after the capture. Therefore, she could not take part in correcting the mortar fire on the journalists," sys the report of the Fund "Open Dialogue", posted on its website.
