SC upholds verdict in BORN's case

The court has dismissed the appeals filed against the sentences to Maxim Baklagin, Vyacheslav Isaev, and Mikhail Volkov, who were sentenced in the criminal case against the "Combat Organization of Russian Nationalists" (known in Russia as BORN).

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 21, 2015, the Moscow Regional Court pronounced the verdict in the criminal case against the BORN. Maxim Baklagin, Vyacheslav Isaev, and Mikhail Volkov were found guilty of all the charges filed against them. Maxim Baklagin and Vyacheslav Isaev were sentenced to life imprisonment, and Mikhail Volkov was sentenced to 24 years of imprisonment in a high-security penal colony. The sentences were pronounced on the basis of the jury's verdict of March 31.

The defendants were accused of involvement in a series of resonant crimes in 2008-2010 in Moscow.

The Russian Supreme Court (SC) has dismissed the appeal filed by the defendants and their defenders, who insisted on the abolition of the verdict of guilty, the "Interfax" reports.

The defenders of Maxim Baklagin and Vyacheslav Isaev asked the Court to mitigate the verdict pronounced against their customers, sentenced to life imprisonment, and sentence them to specified terms of imprisonment. The advocates believed the mitigation of the verdict was possible due to the fact that their clients had contributed to the solution of the crime.
