Mairbek Agaev treats lawsuit filed by "Roskomnadzor" as an attempt of pressure
In Makhachkala, at the basis of the lawsuit filed by the "Roskomnadzor" (Federal Service for Supervision in the Sphere of Telecom, Information Technologies and Mass Communications), the court has fined the "Chernovik" (Draft) for the use of the names of terrorist organizations "Imarat Kavkaz" and "Islamic State" (IS) without specifying that the both organizations are prohibited in Russia. Mairbek Agaev, the editor-in-chief, believes that the rule of law, violated by the "Chernovik", is used selectively.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the decision of the Russian Supreme Court (SC) on the recognition of the "Imarat Kavkaz" as an extremist organization came into force on February 25, 2010. On December 29, 2014, the Russian SC recognized the "Islamic State" (IS) as a terrorist organization. The activities of both organizations in Russia are prohibited.
According to Mairbek Agaev, the court hearing was held on December 30, 2015, and following its results, the "Chernovik" was fined 4000 roubles. Mairbek Agaev has noted that the "Chernovik" has not challenged the court's decision and that the fine is not paid.
The editor-in-chief of the "Chernovik" treats the lawsuit filed by the "Roskomnadzor" as an attempt to put pressure on the independent newspaper.
