Activist of "New Armenia" beaten up in Yerevan

In Yerevan, a group of unidentified men has beaten up Suzi Gevorkyan, a member of the "New Armenia" Front, the headquarters of the opposition movement has reported.

The incident occurred in the evening on January 5.

"Two men attacked Suzi Gevorkyan, beat her up and fled the scene, when people in the street reacted to her cries for help," a source from the above headquarters told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to his story, the young woman has injuries of her head and face.

Earlier, Suzy Gevorkyan had received threats from unidentified persons. "Suzy is one of those activists, who came to Armenia from Russia to join the struggle for the adoption of constitutional reforms; she periodically called Armenian youth abroad to follow her," the source has explained.

The movement "Armenian Renaissance" has condemned the attack on Suzi Gevorkyan. The statement released today by the movement has treated the attack as "political persecution of active supporters of 'New Armenia'."
