Guarding of Embassies of Iran and Saudi Arabia in Baku strengthened
Baku has increased the number of policemen on duty in front of the Embassies of Iran and Saudi Arabia.
This decision was made by the authorities "because of increasing tension between Tehran and Riyadh, and after the execution in Saudi Arabia of Shiite preacher Nimr al-Nimr," the TV Channel ANS has reported today.
Mohsen Pakayin, the Iranian Ambassador to Azerbaijan, said that Saudi Arabia's actions violate human rights. In his turn, Musaid bin Ibragim bil Abdullah Al-Salim, the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Azerbaijan, has noted that the authorities of his country "express strong protest against the aggressive Iran's statements," the portal "Echo of the Caucasus" reports.
On January 4, Adil al-Djubeyr, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia, announced the rupture of diplomatic relations with Iran because of its "overt interference in the internal affairs of the Kingdom, hostile actions in the region and attacks on the Embassy of the Kingdom in Tehran and Consulate in the city of Mashhad."
The incidents took place within the framework of protests against the decision of Saudi Arabia to execute the famous Shiite preacher Nimr al-Nimr, the "Trend" reports.
