Grozny resident confesses to power agents of spreading extremism
After detaining Ilman Salgereev in Chechnya on suspicion of dissemination extremist materials, power agents had an educational talk with him. During the meeting, which was attended by a group of young people, their relatives and theologians, Salgereev said that he repented of his deeds.
According to law enforcers, the 19-year-old Salgereev had communicated with the preachers of radical Islamic movements and sent their sermons to his acquaintances through the Messenger WhatsApr, a source from the Chechen Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
After detention of Salgereev, on December 30, law enforcers invited for the meeting in the building of the Oktiabrskiy ROVD (District Interior Division) theologians, including Magomed Khiytanaev, the Qadi of the city of Grozny. A group of young people, who, according to power agents, stuck to extremist views, were also brought to the meeting.
A TV report entitled "Chechen law enforcers have detained a young man, who distributed false ideology on the Internet" was aired by the Chechen State Radio and TV Company "Grozny", says website of the company.
The experts, interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot", have stated that Chechnya has the atmosphere of fear due to the increasing pressure on the Salafists, and harassment and humiliation of those who dare criticizing the republic's leadership.
As stated by Malika, an employee of a local nongovernmental organization, it is dangerous to store religious videos or audio records in one's cell phone.
