Verdicts to Shovgenov and Isaev come into force
Verdicts passed down by the Maikop City Court to Murat Shovgenov and Elman Isaev, who were found guilty of attempting to join the "Islamic State" (IS), have come into force.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that criminal case against two residents of Adygea, who are suspected of having ties with the IS, were instituted by the regional FSB department. In November, the Maikop City Court sentenced Isaev and Shovgenov to a year and 10 months of imprisonment each.
According to the Prosecutor's Office of Adygea, they will serve their sentences in the general-security colony.
"While in Turkey, Murat Shovgenov and Elman Isaev made an attempt to illegally cross the Turkish-Syrian border, but were detained by Turkish special services in and extradited to Russian authorities," says the website of the Prosecutor's Office.
