Bortnikov: 20 of 26 IS leaders in Northern Caucasus killed

The FSB boss Alexander Bortnikov has stated that out of 26 leaders, who had sworn to the "Islamic State" (IS) in Northern Caucasus, 20 were killed in 2015. According to his story, in 2015, in total, 156 militants were neutralized in Russia.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that, according to the Russian General Public Prosecutor Yuri Chaika, the number of criminal cases opened against Russians on their participation in illegal armed formations (IAFs) reached almost 650. Evgeny Sysoev, the Deputy Director of the FSB, has stated that about 7000 Russians and natives from the CIS member-states are at fight for the IS.

Bortnikov also noted that they marked a 2.5 drop of terrorist crimes in Northern Caucasus and in the whole country.

In total in 2015, 156 militants were liquidated in Russia; and 30 terrorist crimes were prevented, the RIA "Novosti" quotes the head of the FSB.
