In Yerevan, picketers report no clashes with police
In Freedom Square, which hosts the ninth day of the continued non-stop sitting picket of the opposition Front of National Salvation "New Armenia", the night has passed in a calm atmosphere, the protesters report.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 1, the "New Armenia" organized an indefinite sitting picket in Freedom Square. The oppositionists demand to recognize null and void the results of the referendum, at which, according to the official data of the Central Election Commission (CEC), the majority of voters gave their votes in favour of the constitutional reforms stipulating the transfer from a presidential to a parliamentary system of power in Armenia.
Tonight, the protest action has been attended by about 15 people, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Gagik Yeghiazaryan, a member of the "New Armenia".
"In Freedom Square, the police patrols were on duty with eight vehicles," the activist has said.
According to him, no incidents with the police occurred during the night. Gagik Yeghiazaryan has also noted that the activists did not attempt to cover with cellophane the second umbrella installed on the steps of the building of the Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre in order to avoid clashes with police.
