Paruyr Airikyan stops cooperating with "New Armenia"

Paruyr Airikyan, the leader of the "National Self-Determination" Party, has explained his break with the "New Armenia" and "No" Front by the fact that, in his opinion, the opposition is split and its certain forces cannot get consolidated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the movements "No" and "New Armenia", organized in the autumn of 2015, comprised opponents of the constitutional reforms and the referendum, which took place on December 6. Since December 1, the "New Armenia" has been holding en endless picket in Freedom Square; individual protests are organized by supporters of the "No" Front.

Today, Paruyr Airikyan has announced his complete break with the above new oppositional formations. He told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that he disagreed with the actions of the opposition, believing that oppositionists are dissociated.

"The 'Armenian National Congress' (ANC) is first calling to consolidate forces to cancel the referendum outcomes, but at the same time holds a separate rally of its supporters," he said.

Airikyan has added that he had offered to "move onto the legal basis" the discussion of the situation around the referendum, but activists of the above two fronts have not responded to his offer.
