200 truckers continue striking near Khasavyurt
In Dagestan, drivers of about 200 heavy vehicles continue their strike near the city of Khasavyurt. Their departure for participation in protests in Moscow was postponed till December 6.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Russian truckers are protesting en masse against the introduction since November 15 of the "Platon" system, which provides for the collection of tolls from trucks moving along federal highways. On November 19, Sergey Voloschuk, a deputy chairman of the inter-regional union of truckers, said that in Dagestan the truckers' protest was supported by 17,000 persons.
"We continue standing. No change: no one cares, no one worries," said one of the protesters.
According to his story, "they again postponed the action in Moscow"; and truckers are afraid of provocations en route.
The information about the postponement of the action was confirmed by Alexander Kotov, the chairman of the union of professional drivers. According to his version, a column of trucks has already left Dagestan.
