Refusal of further investigation into Valery Permyakov's motives challenged

The victim party has filed an appeal against the investigators' refusal to conduct additional investigation into the motives for the crime in the criminal case against Russian soldier Valery Permyakov, accused of killing the Avetisyan family members in Gyumri.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that according to the investigators, Valery Permyakov has confessed to killing seven members of the Avetisyan family in Gyumri. On November 17, it was reported that the investigation into the murder had been completed. The investigators treated as inappropriate the request of the advocates to the victim party to carry out the additional investigation into the motives for the crime. On November 20, it became known that the criminal case had been sent to the Prosecutor's Office for approval of the indictment.

The advocates of the successors to the Avetisyan family have filed a complaint to the Investigating Committee about the investigator's decision to dismiss the motion for an additional investigation into the motives for the murder. This was reported by Yerem Sargsyan, one of the advocates of the victim party.

According to the advocate, the investigating authorities treat the motive for the crime as disclosed, while the criminal case contains the facts that cast doubt on the conclusions of the investigators. Yerem Sargsyan believes that the true motive for the crime differs from the official one; however, he refused to voice his own version and explained his refusal by "the specifics of the criminal case."
