Eyewitnesses report on protest actions of truckers in Dagestan (+video)
Truckers have parked their trucks on the roadside of the highway "Caucasus" in the area of Manas and Kayakent, and that resulted in the formation of large traffic jams. This was reported by residents of Dagestan.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that starting from November 14, truckers regularly held protest actions in the Karabudakhkent and Kayakent Districts of Dagestan. In the Karabudakhkent District, truckers parked their trucks on the roadside near the village of Achi-su. Starting from November 15, they refuse to transport goods.
Russian truckers are protesting against the system "Platon", introduced on November 15 to collect tolls from trucks on the roads of federal significance. The authorities explain the need for collection of tolls by stating that trucks damage roads.
On the federal highway "Caucasus", about 50 trucks formed a large traffic jam on the so-called "Ring of Manas" (near the town of Manas). This was reported by Magomed Guseinov, a resident of Dagestan.
An officer on duty from the Dagestani road police (known as GIBDD) has reported that "GIBDD squads left" for the place of the protest actions.
