House burnt down in special operation in Kalmykia

The special operation, which resulted in the killings of the residents of Dagestan suspected of the attack on Moscow policeman Razudalov, was held 250 kilometres from the city of Elista, in the village of Prikumsky. The special operation lasted during several hours. The house, in which Azamat Shikhavov and Zavur Khamutaev were blocked, was completely destroyed.

The house, where Azamat Shikhavov and Zavur Khamutaev were hiding, was blocked by law enforcers, and residents of nearby houses were evacuated. When offered to surrender, the blocked men opened fire from small arms, and they were killed by return fire.

None of civilians or special fighters suffered in the course of the special operation, the "Pervy Kanal" reports with reference to Elena Alekseeva, an official from the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).

A source from the administration of Kalmykia reports that one of the apartments belongs to an elderly woman, who stays in hospital, and law enforcers do not rule out that her family members might be involved in the armed underground.

According to a source from the law enforcement bodies, Azamat Shikhavov and Zavur Khamutaev could be engaged in preparation of terror acts in Moscow.

Law enforcers suggest that after the murder of the policeman, Azamat Shikhavov and Zavur Khamutaev decided to leave Moscow and take refuge in Dagestan.

Earlier, Denis Merkulov, Chairman of the Commission on Civil Society Development and Human Rights of the Council at the Permanent Representative Office of Dagestan, has called Zavur Khamutaev a member of the "Imarat Kavkaz", recognized in Russia as an extremist organization. According to the law enforcers, Azamat Shikhavov was involved in the murder of Police Captain Rasul Kachmasov, committed on August 22, 2012.
