Court arrests opposition activists in Shaki

In the evening of November 10, Mubariz Abdulkerimov, Samir Gasanov, and Aidyn Alimamedov, three activists of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), were detained by the police at the "Tea House" in Shaki. All three detainees were brought to the district police station on charge of disobeying the police.

According to Gezyal Bairamly, Deputy Chair of the PFPA, on November 11, the activists came before the court.

"The court's decision was made late in the evening, at 11:00 p.m. Each of the activists was arrested for four days. They were found guilty under Article 310 of the Administrative Code (disobeying the police). However, it's a false accusation. Our activists never refused to obey the police," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Gezyal Bairamly.

According to her, the activists were detained under the pretext that the driver of the car, in which they were travelling, went against the traffic. "Firstly, it is not true. Secondly, it is a responsibility of the driver. The arrest of Mubariz Abdulkerimov, Samir Gasanov, and Aidyn Alimamedov is connected with their political activities," Gezyal Bairamly believes.

In particular, she associates the arrests of the activists with their critical publications in social network Facebook with regard to the local and central authorities.
