In Grozny, prosecutors check shops selling Islamic goods

In Grozny, the inspection of shops selling Islamic goods has revealed no violations. This was reported by the Prosecutor's Office. According to sellers, the shops were inspected by prosecutors, officials from the Mayor's Office, and theologians.

According to an official from the Chechen Prosecutor's Office, the inspection was carried out in the shops selling Islamic goods and located in the territory of the Chechen shopping centre "Berkat".

"In the course of the inspection carried out at the market 'Berkat', no extremist materials or audio and video records prohibited for distribution were discovered. This fact suggests that the prevention efforts yield good results," noted an official from the Chechen Prosecutor's Office in his interview to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Buyers complained about the inconvenience caused by the inspection carried out at the market building.

It has been reported that in September, in Gudermes, in the course of the inspections of shops selling Islamic goods, law enforcers seized brochures and books included in the list of banned materials. According to sellers, it is still not clear what books are precisely included in the list of banned materials.

On August 24, in Grozny, the shops selling Islamic goods were inspected. Following the results of the inspections, a case against a female resident of the Staropromyslovsky District of Grozny was brought to the court. The woman was charged with distributing materials of extremist nature, reported the spokesman of the Investigating Department for Chechnya of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).
