Fishermen from Dagestan suspected of attempt on policemen

In the Astrakhan Region, according to investigators, four men opened fire on law enforcers when trying to escape in a boat during the illegal fishing.

The incident occurred in 30 km south-east of the entrance to Belinsky Channel in the Volodarsky District of the Astrakhan Region on October 28. Staff members of the Chief Department for the Astrakhan Region of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) took two boats and began to chase four men suspected of illegal fishing.

"They carried out illegal extraction of especially valuable aquatic biological resources with the use of prohibited fishing gear and a motor boat. The suspects tried to escape, fired at least two shots in the direction of policemen, and damaged a nose part of one of the motor boats," reports the website of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).

All the suspects were detained, and one of them was hospitalized. Three other residents of Dagestan were taken into custody.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 29, the Astrakhan Department of the Russian MIA reported that in the Caspian Sea, law enforcers detained a group of fishermen on suspicion of illegal fishing. During the detention, a shootout occurred, and one of the attackers was wounded.
