The Deputies of the Derbent City Assembly voted for appointment of Malik Bagliev to the post of the city Mayor.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 11 the former Mayor of Derbent Imam Yaraliev announced his early resignation. The contest to take the vacant post was conducted twice. In the first case, the contest failed, because six out of seven candidates withdrew their applications.

The candidacy of Malik Bagliev, the Minister of Labour and Social Development of Dagestan, who won the second contest, was today unanimously supported by the Assembly.

It was decided to vote openly.
