Resident of Dagestan suspected of possessing weapons

According to the police, during a search in the house of a Novokayakent villager, weapons, ammunition, drugs and extremist literature were found.

Employees of the Chief Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) for the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD), jointly with policemen of the Dagestani MIA, held a sanctioned search of a private house in the village of Novokayakent, Kayakent District.

The search was conducted in the framework of the criminal case under investigation, reports the press service of the Chief Department, without specifying details of the case.

"As a result of the search, policemen found an F-1 grenade with a fuse, a Makarov pistol with erased serial number, a full magazine and a silencer, narcotic drugs and extremist religious literature," says a statement posted today on the site of the press service.

A criminal case was initiated under Articles 222 (illegal possession of weapons) and 228 (illegal possession of drugs) of the Russian Criminal Code. The house owner was brought to the police division, the press service reports.

Articles 222 and 228 provide for up to four and three years in prison, respectively.
